Hi, my three-year-old daughter is suffering from teeth decay, two of her upper front teeth are infectious. I have consulted a dental care clinic in High Park. The dentist told me that usually, this condition occurs in children due to keeping milk feeder in the mouth for a long time while sleeping and then sleep without brushing. This will develop bacterial colonization in the mouth which leads to decay. He suggested that she requires a root canal treatment, more specifically a modified root canal treatment for kids known as pulpotomy. On hearing this, I became nervous and asked the doctor whether it is possible to treat with medicines. He told that while doing so, the symptoms get subsided for two months and then reoccur. During 5 to 7, the permanent teeth are expected to erupt, so it is necessary to keep these milk teeth until the age of 5 for better alignment of permanent teeth. The doctor told me that, there is nothing to worry and they will do it carefully without affecting the permanent teeth residing below the milk teeth. But I am concerned whether she will cooperate in doing these procedures. If anyone of your child has undergone an early root canal treatment like this, then help me with your stories. How you managed the situation?
