Can metformin affect fertility in a lady? I am asking this for a colleague of mine who had been tested for fertility issues. The prescription was given to increase and improve her insulin resistance. This would, later on, improve the likelihood of ovulation. As usual, we obliged to the prescription. Little did we know it would not give us positive results. Life seemed bleak but we could not lose hope. It was a struggle we couldn’t bear. So, we decided to seek the best gynecologists at our disposal for guidance and counsel. Different tests showed that she could not sire a kid due to the previous diagnosis of PCOS. The situation she was in required urgent attention to avoid permanent infertility. We then made up our minds to visit the nearest hospital for further clarification. Struggles mounted more pressure to us and we couldn’t tell what else to do. The cost of treatment was unbearable and the hefty fees we could not afford. We tried to put everything together but to no avail. She was in dire need of a child. The only thing left now was Ivf egg donation. But where could we do it? From our research, we only opted for BioTex clinic in Ukraine which went on well with us and we are very glad after the success. Now she has a baby boy.

I am glad tom1 for sharing this. Meformin is intentioned to improve insulin resistance in the body of a lady. In addition, the rate of ovulation increases. I really don't have first-hand information about its relationship with fertility. What I am sure of about it is that when taken in huge doses it can cause dizziness, nausea and vomiting. I am hoping your colleague did portray such signs after taking the dosage. Kindly share with us more about the symptoms that you noticed from her. Anyway, I am glad for being a member of this forum as I have learned something I never knew before. And also shed some more light about BioTex clinic.

Thanks a bunch for sharing your colleague’s predicament. If finally, she was able to sire a kid, it is an encouragement. Such information is sometimes kept a secret when the person suffering is filled with guilt. Metformin is preferably used to treat diabetes patients to lower the blood sugar level. In some cases, when it concentrates in the blood, it can end up affecting the metabolic activities in the cells. This can ultimately affect the implantation to occur in the uterus. The result is a miscarriage whenever the lady conceives. That is a very painful experience many ladies go through but their endurance takes them far. When a lady gets in such a situation, he loses hope and can’t see anymore the reason of living. To get her moods right on track, it is always important for her to seek the best medical facility to restore her fertility. Many suffer in silence but when you comfortably share all your experiences here, it gives hope and reason to smile. I know BioTex is an awesome clinic which transforms infertile ladies through IVF and egg donation. And if your colleague went to this clinic, I can encourage her to keep on. I am thankful for what you have shared. I am filled with hope. Let’s always encourage one another and we shall concur this jinx of infertility.

As far as I know metformin does not help fertility. It is not a treatment for infertility. As far as it is for diabetes. However, my opinion is just what I know about the subject. If your friend did not work, it should be for that. I understand that it can even affect pregnancies.
I can imagine the disappointment of your friend. PCOS is not something nice to live with. It can be very, very annoying. I have PCOS and it took me many moments of desperation trying to get pregnant. The important thing is that your friend could find light at the end of the tunnel. I have my own experience with the BioTex clinic. I conceived my first child by IVF there in Ukraine. It was a very rewarding experience that taught me a lot. I met other women in the same situation as myself and made new friends. It was very emotional to find support in them. The treatment of the clinic was excellent, and to all who can, I tell my experience
Now I'm trying to have my baby number two. I have heard that after an IVF women can become pregnant naturally. I am trying to be able to do it and not need to IVF again. We still do not have a year trying, but if I needed an IVF, I would go back to BioTex.
A greeting for your friend and her beautiful baby.
    Xx
