Hi! my daughter is 4 years old. She has really bad teeth. She has a couple of cavities, decayed tooth, and a chipped tooth. I really want to get them fixed. She hates brushing her teeth and every day I have to force her to brush her teeth. Even though her tooth is decayed and had cavities, she didn't have any tooth pain. But I am really worried about her. I already knew that if the tooth decay and the cavities are not treated, it can affect the remaining teeth also. So I am planning to take her to a dental clinic in Kitchener. I have never taken her to the dentist before. So this will be her first visit to the dentist. My elder daughter has dental phobia. She screams while stepping into the dentist's office. I am worried how my younger daughter will react to her first dental visit. Is there anything to be noted before taking her for her first dental visit? Please share your views and suggestions. Thank you!
I had the same issue when I was a child... I think that it was due to my parents. They made a huge mistake of forcing me. They used to grab me and send me to the dentist regardless of my cries... Oh well that's how everybody was back then. Were talking about the early 80s here... Anyway I think that what you should make is make your child wash their teeth properly. Eventually some tooth will decay regardless of what you do... When that happens ask if they want to go to the dentist. If they say no, then let them be. Eventually the pain will kick in! The moment that happens try to explain to them that the dentist is the only way to get rid of the pain. That way I think they will run to the dentist on their on. Thus next time wheneve they have a decay you tell them let's avoid pain and go before it has started. I think this would work just fine. I wish my parents did this with me then. However this is kot scientific or anything. This is just an idea of mine. I am think g of dong this to my children. I hope that you fix your problem pretty soon. God bless you dear.
