I'm having such strong cravings for sweets with this pregnancy. I don't want to put on too much weight. I've been eating sugar free jello as often as possible to satisfy my cravings, but sometimes I just want chocolate. Can you suggest a good sugar free or low fat guilt free dessert?

Here's a lower fat version of brownies that you might want to try out.
The butter was replaced with prune puree. You won't even know the difference!
    • 4 ounces semisweet chocolate, broken into pieces
    • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
    • 1 cup sugar
    • 1 large egg, plus 1 large egg white
    • 1 container (2.5 ounces) prune puree (1/4 cup)
    • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour, (spooned and leveled)
    • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line bottom and sides of an 8-inch-square baking pan with foil, leaving a 2-inch overhang. Set aside.

    2. In a small saucepan, bring an inch of water to a simmer over low heat. Place chocolate and butter in a medium heatproof bowl; set bowl over pan. Stir occasionally until melted. Remove from heat. Immediately whisk in sugar, egg, egg white, prune puree, vanilla, and salt until smooth.

    3. In a medium bowl, sift together flour and cocoa. Stir into chocolate mixture just until incorporated.

    4. Spread batter in prepared pan. Bake until top is firm (a toothpick inserted in center will come out with a few moist crumbs), about 30 minutes. Let cool completely in pan. Using foil, lift brownies from pan. Peel off foil. Using a serrated knife, cut into 16 squares.

That’s is typically something that every women goes through in the pregnancy. In each pregnancy the cravings are different. When I was pregnant, I use to crave for non-vegetarian food where as I am a total vegetarian but my husband eats non-veg like a beast. So maybe that’s why my baby inside craved non-veg food items. Anyway so coming back to your query, I can provide you some recipes that you might want to try. Firstly you can try a thick nutty banana shake wherein you need to freeze the bananas first. Then chop these bananas and toss them in the blender with yoghurt and milk. Add cinnamon and honey or even peanut or almond butter along with some nuts or whatever suits you. And then just give it a nice blend, pour it and drink it. Secondly you can try fruit cream wherein your need to have a lots of fruits cut in smaller pieces. Have sugar or peanut butter mixed in the cream nicely and toss the fruits in before putting it in refrigerator to let it chill. These recipes are very healthy and will remove your strong cravings for sweets in no time. Gaining weight is pretty okay during pregnancy, it is after the baby you need to be more careful in terms of shedding the weight. So try to eat healthy as the nutrition is directly going to the baby and I am sure you would want to give the right nutrition to your baby. Besides nothing is more nutritious than fruits and nuts so go for these two things and also you can ask for some recipes from your doctor.

This is great thing dear. This whole posts gives me hope. Seeing how reckless people are lately... This is a beautiful thing to see. I love the fact that you care about your baby. Even better is the fact that you care about yourself. You are trying your best not to gain weight. That is something hard to do. Especially in your case. You have the justification you need. I am pregnant and the baby wants this!

I think what you should do is try to find alternatives to sugar. There are many candies sold around my place that have some other stuff instead of sugar. Hope you found this useful dear. God bless you! Please take good care of yourself.
